Logrus has become a co-founder of Taus Data Association (TDA). It was established to share parallel language data with the objective to stimulate innovation and automation of translation activities.
TDA will host translation memories and glossaries in all languages structured by industry domains and company indexes. Free access to databases will allow translators, product developers and other professionals to find terms and phrases translations.
Members of TDA will be able to use large collections of parallel language. It allows them not only automate and streamline translation processes but also increase translation efficiency and improve translation quality.
List of co-founder companies also includes: ABBYY, Abu Ghazaleh Legal, Adobe, Applied Language Solutions, Autodesk, Celer Soluciones, Cisco Systems, CLS Communication, Cross Language, Dell, eBay, Elanex, EMC, Fruugo, Intel, Jonckers, JTS, Language Intelligence, Language Weaver, Linguistic Systems, Lionbridge, Matrixware, McAfee, Microsoft, Milengo, Moravia, Oracle, Prolingua, PTC, SDL, Skrivanek, Sun Microsystems, Sybase iAnywhere, Tilde, VanceInfo Creative Software, Vistatec, Welocalize and Yahoo.
The European Commission will also share its data through TDA.
“This collaboration is a major breakthrough for the translation industry”, says Jaap van der Meer, Director of the TAUS Data Association.
The first release of TDA will be launched in the beginning of 2009. It will maintain a language data exchange facility for TDA members and a public language search portal.
